About This Event

The Down on the Farm Iron Pour is an annual rural arts gathering centered around cast iron, creativity, and community. Held on a family farm in northeast Iowa, the event brings together artists, educators, students, and enthusiasts for a weekend of iron casting, workshops, demonstrations, camping, shared meals, and connection. What began as a small iron pour has grown into a unique event where newcomers and seasoned foundry workers alike are welcomed into the process. Set within a working farm under active restoration, the gathering reflects a shared commitment to craft, stewardship, and the enduring power of making things together.

The event ran for 20 years straight, from 2004-2024, then took a year off. They are back for 2026 with the 4th Iron Farmers Market Show being held in the Barn as the first major event in that space since its restoration began in 2024. Friday night there will be live music from local Decorah band Ghost Peaks and the main event, the Iron Pour, is Saturday evening followed by a community meal + DJ Willem Hawley.
